Welcome to Authentic Counselling, my name is Ami Patel and I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor. The meaning of authentic is to be real, genuine, not false or copied. This is the way I actively choose to practise in therapy; being authentic is important and at the core of how I work as by being open and genuine, I believe a trusting environment can be built and in result, building the foundation of the counselling process.

Struggling with a range of mixed emotions which is affecting how you cope on a day to day basis?

Maybe you have faced a difficult life event such as a breakdown of a relationship, a bereavement or work issues?

All of us at some point in our lives may face a rough patch, when we are unable to overcome these struggles and overwhelming feelings are prolonged, is where counselling can be beneficial. I have personally experienced counselling and found it to be a place of where I could truly be myself as it was a safe environment to do so and this is what I aim to deliver to my clients.

Counselling is about self-exploration, gaining awareness and taking actions towards positive change. This is done by building a unique relationship where the focus is on you. Counselling is not about me giving you advice as you already get this from friends and family, but is about having a space where you can openly share issues and emotions in a non- judgemental environment.
